My mouth had been left watering one week before reading Rob Broadfield’s review in the West so I couldn’t wait! On arrival we ordered a nice bottle of sparkling and I also had a bespoke mule cocktail, it was delicious, a really nice spicy house made ginger beer. The menu is huge there’s something for everyone.
I started with the sweetbread and marron with a delicious salad, it was so fresh and full of flavour, the orange, mint and coriander complemented the marron and sweetbread beautifully.
One thing I must admit is that my husband and I always share :-) so I of course tried his choice of pork belly with octopus (the standout of the dish for me was the divine tomato, onion and chilli under the pork), I wasn’t too keen on the octopus with some bits being quite rare, the pork belly was also not quite what we expected, it wasn’t bad but for our personal likes I don’t think we try this one again.

For mains I ordered the Mt Barker chicken from the rotisserie, it was delicious! So tender and succulent. Alan ordered the Cape Grim rib eye which was a fantastic steak, the condiments were great too.

So to the sides which I absolutely love, it was great to have a group of 9 as we got to order 6 sides :-) so our choices were the cauliflower, potatoes cooked in duck fat, roasted brocolini, parsnips and brussel sprouts, pumpkin and sweet potato (my favourite), and of course the onion rings – divine. The sides are so generous and I think great value.

As you can imagine by this time we’re feeling pretty full so 5 of us decide to share 3 cheeses and 4 others ordered desserts which looked delicious.

Rockpool is a fantastic addition to the Perth dining scene, I love it and will be returning as often as possible and with such a huge menu there’s plenty of reasons to keep going back. Thanks Neil Perry.

Over the years I’ve had many people comment and say they like the fact that I upload photos and descriptions of the food I eat onto Facebook and I often get asked for recommendations of restaurants so this is just the next step I guess. I’ve been inspired by a few other Perth bloggers so I’m going to give it a go. I hope if you find yourself reading this blog it brings you something that’s a bit informative and is enjoyable to look at and read. I know my husband and I enjoy putting in the time to find the great restaurants! Feel free to leave feedback, I’d love to hear your comments. BTW my friends call me Shaz!
